The Arm Candy for Packaging

by | Jan 9, 2021 | Commercial, Content, News, SmarterPrint

Some boxes are pretty – most shipping boxes are not. Perhaps society has become bored with the Amazon Smile box design. Maybe, we get excited to see a new vendor with unique packaging of a new style. Of course, we do. It’s like the holidays. Some people use the gift bags, and you get to reach in and pull out the gift. That’s too easy and not the best experience. The leaders of experience create an amazing package with great wrapping skills and unique bows.

Packaging can be expensive for e-tailers and retailers who are typically looking for the least expensive and fastest way to safely package and ship product. If the packaging itself is too costly, then let that be practical. Smart brands enjoy the benefits of creative packaging arm candy. Let’s talk inserts.

Do you have an insert strategy? Talient Action can help you with this endeavor. Get creative. Inserts can be extremely inexpensive, easy to include, and a fast way to build a brand impression. Consider these inserts from leading manufacturers:

  • Peter Millar provides a mini-gift envelope containing a golf ball marker in its packages. No one throws out this cool looking marker, and many may even use it on the course. Literally, people carry this brand around and put it down and pick it up.
  • Journ sends a handwritten note with every skincare offer. It looks and feels legit. It’s a real personal touch.
  • Costa Farms sends a postcard with every cactus plant that shares the plant’s name, a thank you for the new home, and care instructions.
  • One jewelry retailer includes a branded guitar pick in every order. It creates a brand connection between jewelry and music. All in the language of love. Even people who don’t play guitar will be compelled to keep this stylish pick.

There’s no shortage of great ways to create a package insert that makes an impact and has staying power. It’s one thing to know the consumer has your t-shirt in their wardrobe or they are drinking your tea. It is another to know you’ve left a brand mark on their daily life.

A few more great ideas.

Belly Bands – wrapped around a package can be a quick and easy way to create a very positive brand impression and to add to the unwrapping experience.

Personalized Notes – Anytime you can use automation to create a personalized experience, you are putting your impact on steroids. Printing note cards in bulk, and having a local impact printer crack out one name takes seconds. Those seconds turn into lifetime relationships between a consumer and brand.

Baseball Cards – Make some baseball cards of your most popular products. Consumers will keep their favorite product cards sitting front and center on their kitchen counter. Perhaps even on the fridge as a gift suggestion.

Die-Cut Inserts – An extremely low-cost way to make a big impression is a die-cut print piece. Creative teams can make those unique die-cut pieces cool to play with. Consumers will have fun with the origami style print.

No Shortage of Ideas.

It’s easy to make the experience a unique one. And oftentimes, the cost of these inserts is pennies. When email is going to ‘promotion’ or ‘spam’ Inboxes and ads cost money… why wouldn’t you increase your visibility in consumer shelf life?

Don’t sell yourself short in the packaging step of your product delivery. Print makes a permanent impression.
